Review: Pokémon Snap

Anyone that was a kid during the Pokémon craze watched the tv series, played the games and was just in general crazy about the little creatures. There was only one game that i personally loved to death but was disliked by a lot of other people. I decided to pull it out of the closet and give it a shot once again, with my camera that is.

Pokémon Snap

It's a Snap
As soon as i switched on my N64 and the Pokémon came on my screen i was into it. I was ready to get them all and show Prof. Oak who's boss. The goal in the game is to take pictures of wild Pokémon while riding trough stages on a track and let Prof. Oak give them a rating. The better the shot the higher the score, for example a sitting Pidgey gets you 500 points but one that is eating or flying gets you bonus points. If you're thinking is there anything else to do in this game than taking pictures of Pokémon, the answer is no.

Poké boring?
If you're a Pokémon fan with a lot of patience  that this is a great game. I really like to play it but it does take time. Getting the right shot or triggering an event to get just that one Pokémon can be very frustrating or even right out boring. Besides that there are only a few stages and not all Pokémon are present which will end up in playing the same stages over and over again. One nice thing for the perfectionist among us once you have taken a bunch of pictures and Prof. Oak has rated them  you can keep improving them to get the highest score possible.

The verdict
Pokémon Snap is a fun game while it lasts which sadly isn't very long for most gamers. This is by no means a game you will play for days in a row but is a perfect sit back and relax title to take your mind of things. Once you start playing all you're thinking about is getting that one shot and it feels good to get a high rating from Prof. Oak. And a plus these day's is that it only costs a few bucks on Ebay. So in the end it's a fun game to play and a recommendation to any Pokémon fan or someone looking to relax between all the online shooting.

Rating score 7.5

The good:
- Pokémon fan heaven
- Well worked out
- Addictive gameplay

The bad:
- Short replay value for a lot of gamers.
- Not all first gen Pokémon are present.
- No multiplayer or photo exchange.
